SARS-Cov-2

The strain of coronavirus that causes Covid-19.


The novel coronavirus that was first noticed in Wuhan, China, and is responsible for the current outbreak. The disease it causes is called COVID-19.


Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, or SARS-CoV-2, is the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. A scientific group called the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses gives viruses names that reflect their genetic structure and allow them to be grouped with similar viruses for research purposes, including the development of diagnostic tests, medications and vaccines.


The official name for a new virus that first appeared in Wuhan, China that may cause a range of respiratory symptoms including dry cough, fever, shortness of breath and fatigue.
