Secret parenting

[Lockdown] A term coined by the economist Emily Oster last year to describe the experience of parents who “feel the need to hide or minimize the evidence of their children at the office.” Any attempt to continue this charade with schools closed and videoconferencing screens open is hopeless, Oster wrote recently in Forge. And that’s probably a good thing: From now on, she points out, “I’d bet our colleagues will know a lot more about our families, and be more aware of the challenges we all face.”
