Temporal illusion

[Lockdown] When time seems to speed up, slow down, or otherwise behave differently than it should, which often happens when life feels unstable. As Jacqueline Detwiler recently wrote in Forge: “Time is fantastically subjective, its perceptual speed pushed around by personal history, emotional state, motivation, air travel, drugs, access to sunlight, and certain neurotransmitters, among other things.” That subjectivity also means it’s possible to manipulate your sense of time — a welcome piece of news for anyone who’s tired of being surprised to discover that it’s Tuesday.
