TEMPEST

U.S. government code word for a program launched in the 1950’s to reduce the chances of electromagnetic radiation "leakage" from devices used to process, transmit, or store sensitive information. It was believed that such leakage could pose a security threat.


A short name referring to investigations and studies of compromising emanations.
