(Ebon Gates, Ebon Gate) n. The portal that connects the world of the living to the world of the eternally dead. When one dies and goes without resurrection, without Lorminstra's intervention or some other powerful force binding them to the realm of the living, the soul will pass through the Ebon Gates into Gosaena's mysterious domain of eternal death. Once a soul passes through the Ebon Gates, it can never return to Elanthia again in living form.
