Fusilli al ferro

In the regions of Apulia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, and Sardinia, however, the dough for "fusilli al ferro" is made with flour (with or without egg), rolled into a log, and cut into chubby squares which are then wrapped around a thin iron rod (ferro means 'rod' in Italian) and rolled out until they stretch into long noodles with a hole in the middle.
