Preparative chromatography

The process of using liquid chromatography to isolate a sufficient amount of material for other experimental or functional purposes. For pharmaceutical or biotechnological purification's, columns several feet in diameter can be used for multiple grams of material. For isolating just a few micrograms of a valuable natural product, an analytical column can be used. Both are preparative chromatographic approaches.
