Audio Output

The connection point from which an audio signal is electronically transferred via a wire from one audio component to another; the origination point of an audio signal as it travels over a wire. Audio outputs are found on the outside of audio/video equipment allowing interconnect wires to be attached. Audio signals in an electronic form exit through the audio output to enter a wire and travel to an audio input. Think of the audio output as a door marked “Exit Only” that lets audio leave an area. The audio output is the origination point of an audio signal travelling over a wire. Audio outputs are necessary to move audio information between components or pieces of an audio system. Common forms of audio outputs include RCA jacks and XLR jacks.
