RCA Connector

The common connector used for most back-panel audio connections and for some types of video; it uses relatively low-cost push-on male and female connectors consisting of an inner connector within a concentric ring about 8 mm in diameter that forms the outer connector; also commonly called a "phono connector" because of its frequent use on phonographs.

Type of standard, low-level signal interconnect termination or connector featuring a single, cylindrical metal rod and an outer, round metal belt. RCA-type cables are used for connecting many types of audio components and video components. They are used for coaxial digital data interconnects in addition to coaxial composite video cables. They are also the standard type of interconnect for audio purposes. RCA interconnects are unbalanced designs used in almost all systems and between almost any type of audio/video component. Most good quality RCA connectors are gold-plated to increase signal transfer and minimize degradation of the connector itself (primarily through rust and oxidation).
