Shielded

Term relating to speakers and how their magnetic fields are blocked from exiting their cabinets and interfering with video displays. he magnetic fields created by loudspeakers adversely interact with picture tubes in CRT video displays. The speakers’ magnetic fields create abnormalities in the picture resulting from the magnetic fields interfering with the steering of the CRT’s electron beam, which also uses magnets. Shielding speakers uses specially formulated metals to block the speaker’s magnetic fields from escaping the cabinet. ot all speakers are magnetically shielded, however, any speaker to be used within a few feet of a television or computer display using cathode ray tubes (most traditional televisions and monitors) should be magnetically shielded to prevent potential interference with the picture. This feature is especially crucial for center channel speakers, which often sit atop video displays.
