Spade Lug Connector

Type of U-shaped speaker connector attached to the ends of speaker wire and used to connect the wire to the input or output terminals (five-way binding posts) of amplifiers and speakers. Spade lugs are placed against binding posts with their U-shaped cavity or space around the post itself. The binding post is then screwed down onto the spade lug with a metal or plastic nut to hold the spade lug in place. pade lugs provide a large surface contact between speaker and amplifier binding posts and speaker wire enabling a good flow of power into the wire and between components. Other popular speaker wire terminations or connectors are banana connectors and pin-type connectors.
