Limited filter

In a written text, the narrator's power to enter minds is limited to a single (or a few) character(s). Limited filter is a contrast to omniscience, where the narrator can enter the mind of any or all characters. (The phrase "limited omniscience" is sometimes used to describe "limited filter," yet many scholars think the phrase "limited omniscience" an oxymoron.)
