Scene

(1) One of the five durational relationships between story and discourse. The telling or showing of the story-event lasts approximately as long as the event lasts. (In film, "scene" is the most common or normal of durational relationships, though summary can be shown through montage, ellipsis through fade-in/fade-out.); (2) In film, a set of shots taking place in a single setting in a specific time. A narrative is composed of a sequence of scenes.
