External Locus of Control

The tendency to believe that circumstances are not within one’s control but rather are due to luck, fate, or other people.


When a person believes that his or her achievements and outcomes are determined by fate, luck, or other. If the person does not succeed, he or she believes it is due to external forces outside of the person’s control.
