cubic foot; the U.S. customary unit of measurement of gas volume. It is the amount of gas required to fill a volume of one cubic foot under stated conditions of temperature, pressure and water vapor. One cubic foot of natural gas equals 1,000 British thermal units under standard conditions of atmosphere (one) and temperature (60 degrees Fahrenheit).
