DVD (Digital Video Disc or Digital Versatile Disk)

(DVD, Digital Video Disc, Digital Versatile Disk) A 12 cm optical disc format designed to function as a data storage medium. When fully implemented it has the potential of replacing other optical media such as the laserdisc, audio CD, and CD-ROM. It also has the potential of replacing VHS tape as a distribution format for movies.
