Cavity

In microwave parlance, a metallic enclosure which can be made to resonate at a desired frequency. Primarily used to describe a cavity filter, which is a highly-selective tuning element at microwave frequencies that may be used as the frequency-determining element of an oscillator or as a lowpass, bandpass or highpass filter. Generally of fixed frequency or mechanically tunable over a very limited frequency range.
