(The Unlife) n. Not to be confused with the undead. The Unlife is said to be a collective consciousness, an otherworldly evil which seeks to pervert all life in Elanthia to its form of chaotic existence. The ways of the Unlife are strange and secretive and little concrete information is known of it. Although the undead and Unlife are not necessarily one and the same, many undead beings are said to be the servants or creation of the Unlife.

Note: There is much confusion surrounding the actual nature of the Unlife, and whether or not such a thing actually exists in the game world today. All of the storylines and lore which directly indicate and detail the nature of the Unlife are from the ICE Age, and some staff members have outright said that they are no longer valid. To add to the confusion, many references to "Unlife" still exist in the game, though the term seems to be used interchangably with the term "undead." Perhaps now they are one and the same. No definitive clarification from Simutronics has been forthcoming as of yet.
