A person who is particularly interested in and appreciative of audio. An audiophile need not spend a fortune on equipment or software, although that is the impression many people have. An audiophile is one who savors music and its faithful reproduction. Simply enjoying listening to CDs or the radio does not necessarily make one an audiophile. There is a passion and fire for the music and a quest for true-to-life quality differentiating an audiophile from a music listener.
