Threat

A move or plan, that, if allowed, leads to immediate reduction of the enemy's position.


A plan or move that carries an intention to damage the opponent's position. A threat is a tactical weapon that must be defended against.


A move which can win material, checkmate, or make progress next move if the opponent does not stop it. Attacking an undefended piece is a possible threat.
