Once one of the seven Noble Houses of the Elves, the Faendryl were the unofficial leaders of the elven empire until the Battle of Maelshyve, when they were exiled for unleashing the magic of demonic summoning and sorcery. Banished from the lush lands of the east, the Faendryl sought refuge in the caves of the scorched area known as Rhoska-Tor in the Southron Wastes. There their physical and mental characteristics changed over time and eventually they were named "dark elves" by their eastern kin, for their appearance and for their deeds.
