Polar circle

The polar circle refers to either the Arctic Circle (in the Northern Hempisphere) or Antarctic Circle (in the Southern Hemisphere). It is an imaginary line of latitude at 66°33'44" N or S. The area between a polar circle and its pole is very cold, and each year has at least one day each year in which the sun is continuously above the horizon and at least one day period when the sun never rises above the horizon.
