An interlinked, informal network of Web sites that share a common subject or theme (for examples, see http://www.webring.org). Web rings represent a sort of organic community of Web sites. While often supportive or collaborative, sometimes their focus may be critical of a company or organization -- as in the case of Nike. Owners of these Web ring sites may "conspire" to direct visitors through their sites to present a series of complaints and flames about a company.
