Panna cotta

A dessert that originated in Piedmont, panna cotta is also prepared in parts of Liguria. At its simplest it is made by dissolving unflavored gelatin in milk, then whisking the milk into heavy cream that has been sweetened with confectioner's sugar and scented with vanilla extract.
