Multidimensional chromatography

The use of two or more columns or chromatographic techniques to effect a better separation. Useful for sample cleanup, increased resolution, and increased throughput. It can be used off-line by collecting fractions and re-injecting onto a second column or on-line by the use of a switching valve. Also called coupled-column chromatography, column switching, multicolumn chromatography, or boxcar chromatography.
