Form of video distortion in which lines on the screen bow or bend outward toward the edges of the screen when they should be straight lines with no curve (or curved lines are curved more than they should be). Barrel distortion is similar to a fish-eye filter where the central images are correct but the images on the sides pull toward the edges.
