Center Channel

Third front audio channel (in addition to main stereo left and right channels) found in surround sound audio systems with the primary task of reproducing movie dialogue (what the actors are saying) thus locking the voices to the screen for all listeners. he center channel is an important part of a surround sound audio system due to its ability to make voices come from the screen where the actors are located. For a listener sitting off-center closer to either the left or right speaker, without a center channel dialogue seems to come from the speaker the listener is sitting closest to. This effect is unnatural making it sound like an actor on the screen is speaking off the screen. The center channel allows all listeners to experience dialogue coming from the center, as it should. he center channel also carries other audio effects, particularly as sounds pan from one side of a room to the other crossing from left to center to right or vice versa. The center channel in a surround sound audio system may handle as much as 60 percent of the audio information across the front. For this reason, it is very important that the center channel receive equal power to that of the stereo left and right channels and that it feature a center channel speaker of equal quality to the other speakers.
