Deflection Yoke

Coils of wire wound around the neck of a cathode ray tube (the small end opposite the screen) that generate a magnetic field and use it to direct the electron beam in the CRT. Without a deflection yoke, an electron beam would simply shoot out straight from the electron gun. The deflection yoke acts like the steering wheel of a car to essentially drive the beam to the proper position. This task is vital in order for an image to be properly displayed.
