Home Theater

Term used to describe a complete audio/video system consisting of a video display, at least one video source, and surround sound (left and right front speakers and left and right rear speakers most often also having a front center speaker) designed to bring the movie theater experience into the home. Home theaters may be located in their own rooms or located in a family room, bedroom, or other room. ost home theaters use multiple video sources such VCRs, DVD players, laserdisc players and direct broadcast satellite. Most also contain audio sources such as CD players, cassette players and tuners. rue home theater systems include full-surround sound in Dolby Pro-Logic at a minimum and increasingly in Dolby Digital and/or DTS discrete digital surround sound formats. Most home theaters also include a center channel speaker, and increasingly subwoofers are being integrated for a more moving experience. Home theater elevates the home movie viewing experience from watching images on a small television with poor sound quality to experiencing the movie on a large screen in full surround sound. A well-designed home theater places viewers in the middle of the action with good quality video and sound quality that rivals or surpasses that of most movie theaters.
