PLUGE Pattern

Test pattern used for setting the black level (brightness at the darkest part of an image) of a video display. The black level must be properly set to ensure a video image is not washed out (too light) or over shadowed (too dark). Without the proper black level, colors lose their vibrancy and become peeked and lifeless. With too much black, the colors become dark and dreary. The PLUGE (Picture Line-Up Generation Equipment) test pattern allows the black level to be set properly so that the video display can perform optimally.
