Fidelity

A common, if problematic, criterion for evaluating adaptations, focusing on the "faithfulness" of the adaptation to the original. According to McFarlane, fidelity criticism ignores the complexities of the two media's differing systems of enunciation; of contemporary approaches to interpretation; and of contextual and cultural issues in film production.
