Pause

One of the five durational relationships between story and discourse. The story stops for a moment as the narrator describes or comments on events, characters, themes, or anything that concerns him or her. When the story-events resume, no "story-time" has elapsed. (In film, the equivalent of pause is perhaps the hardest of the durational relationships to convey, though since The Matrix the effect has become more widely used).
