Widescreen formats

Screen ratios wider than the Academy ratio, which is standardized at 1.33:1 (or 4:3) in the United States. Important widescreen formats are the U.S. standard of 1.85:1 (or 16:9) and the CinemaScope and anamorphic Panavision ratio of 2.35:1.
