Tensile Test

Test which is used to determine the actual tensile strength of the tube. The tensile test involves cutting a section of tubing, carefully measuring the cross-sectional area, mounting the tube section within a tensile test fixture and applying a tensile load onto the tube sufficient in magnitude to pull the tube to destruction. The load at which the specimen breaks is divided by the original cross-sectional area to obtain the ultimate tensile stress or strength.
