Receiver Bandwidth

The receiver bandwidth is normally to the bandwidth of the channel being received. Some brands of receivers use a bandpass filter to reduce the bandwidth in order to extend receiver threshold. While reducing bandwidth does reduce impulse noise and thus sparklies, it does so at the expense of picture fidelity. Whenever half-transponder formats are received, receiver bandwidth must be reduced and center frequency adjusted to accommodate just the portion of the transponder bandwidth in use.
