Diffusion coefficient

(Dm or Ds). A fundamental parameter of a molecule in solution (Dm) or in stationary phase (Ds). Expressed in cm2/s. Dm depends on molecular weight of the solute, on temperature, on solvent viscosity, and on molar volume of the solute. A typical value of a small molecule in RPC at room temperature would be S x 10 cm2/s.
