Interrupt Request Line

(IRQ) This is the way that each of your devices communicate with your computers main processor. For example, every time you move the mouse, the mouse sends a signal down its allocated IRQ line to the computers processor, which stops what it is doing and displays the new mouse position on the screen (all in the blink of an eye) It is important to note that each device needs its own IRQ. If a computer tries to share IRQ's then conflicts occur.
